The V Class locomotive was built by the Drewery Car Co. in the UK, the same company that produced the WAGR Z Class. The V class locomotives were an 0-6-0 based on a standard design like the BR Class 03 and 04 but gauged for 3' 6" and began service in Tasmania in 1948. V5 and V4 of the class where purchased by Hotham Valley Railway in 1986 making the journey from Burnie in Tasmania to Pinjarra in Western Australia and can now be seen working in Dwellingup WA.
Derwent Valley Railway Models has reproduced V5 in 1:64 scale (Sn3.5) complete with fine grill and hand rail details and is now available for printing from Westrail Models
Sales of this model help raise funds for the Derwent Valley Railway Preservation Society, New Norfolk, Tasmania.
